How do I replace the thermal limiter. I have taken the screws out of the clips, but can't get to the part. The top won't come lose.

I have a frigidaire gallery electric dryer and it is easy to take the top off but you have to be willing to use a bit of force. Don't even bother with the screws into the back clips, you can leave them on. The front edge of the top is held down by two spring clips, each about 1.5 inches from the sides.
Just insert a large flathead screwdriver into the front edge, between the lid and the control panel. Insert it at the location of one of the clips. Twist the driver and you will see the lid lift. Twist or pry more and it will pop up. Do the same with the other spring clip. Then lift that front edge up, unclip the grounding wire at the back, and take the lid off.
