does anyone know a good site to go to to learn piano/ keyboard? Basically so I can learn the basics sort of so I can play some songs on it when my guitar learning frustrates me, don't have the time to invest to get proffessional lessons on piano/keyboard (I have a keyboard, not really a serious good one, its sum weird one called a "magic genie" but at least all the keys are there), just want to give it a try to see if I like it, because I like the sound of piano/keyboard in music because it gives a heaps more emotionall sound than guiter.

Ricci Adams' Musictheory.net (http://www.musictheory.net) is a great site for your theory! When it comes to piano, learning music theory helps heaps!

Learn Jazz Piano, by Scot Ranney (http://www.learnjazzpiano.com) is another one.

Otherwise, Google or muck around! Improvising is one of the best ways of learning. Once you've learn about harmony, and how music "works" and once you've learnt how to read sheet music... you're ready to start tackling some pieces!

Although there are people who can't read sheet music and play piano, so that's fine too. You don't always have to go by the book.

One of the best ways of learning, I find, is learning through playing pieces.

Hope that helps :). Good luck!

If you are serious about leaning to pay the piano, go to a music studio and get a real piano teacher in real life. You need to learn theory, proper hand positions, and so much more.

I agree with Chuck. I've taught myself a few instruments (guitar, trumpet, saxophone), but I doubt I could have learned piano effectively without a teacher. There's a lot of theory you need to get down to play piano, and theory is really hard to teach yourself.
