Good Evening
My hot water heater will not kick in even if its turned all the way. The pilot light is lit but the unit just won't kick in. I have replaced the thermocouple and nothing(but the pilot light). Any repair suggestions. Thanks in advance for any response on this one.

It may be the thermostat or it could be a bad gas valve. What kind of water heater is it?

I think most water heaters the thermostat and gas valve are all one piece. Replacing the whole thing shouldn't be a big job.

Labman is right the thermostat and gas valve are one piece, I guess I should have been more specific... anyways, I'd say replace the gas valve and it should be fine. However if the water heater is old it may be just as easy to replace the whole thing.

What did you end up doing to fix it? It helps posting this stuff so that people can read the answers and maybe you can be of some help to someone else.

Nothing special, I just turned the gas off let it set for a few minuets and re-lit the pilot and it stayed on. Not sure if something was sticking or what. Just grateful that its is working now. Thanks again.
