Besides eating a ton of yams and hoping the twins in your family contributed some gene...

If you monitor your ovulation time and temp and all the factors is there any way you could tell if you have a higher chance of having twins?

My husband is an identical twin, but thanks to this site I know now that doesn't matter but my maternal gma had fraternal twins.

I really don't think yams has anything to do with it. Tho some will swear by it. It also depends on the type of twins. Identical twins occur once in around 250 births, AROUND THE WORLD.these don't really seem to be brought on by the same things that fraternal twins are. Fraternal twins are influenced by Mother nature of course, fertility treatments, your age, race, heredity, and the number of previous pregnancies. About 1 in out of every 100 pregnancies in white women occur, compared to 1 in 70 births in African American women. In fact, according to my " your pregnancy week by week" book, it says that in Africa, there are some places that twins occur once in every 20 births. Hispanic women run a higher rate of twins then white women, and Asian women have a lower occurrence of about 1 in 150 births. SOOOO that is just a little info for you. Good luck!
