When does implantation BEGINS? How long does it take to compleate? I am 4dpo right now and was just wondering...
Fertalization occurs when one sperm penetrates the ovum (egg). This takes place in the outer 1/3 of the fallopian tube and occurs within 24 hours of the ovums release. Once fertalization occurs the newly formed cell is called a zygote.
The zygote moves through the fallopian tube to the uterus within 3 - 4 days. The cells continue to divide, some of the cells develop into the embryo and a specific amount develop the placenta. Between days 6 - 10 enzymes are secreted that allow implantation.
The embryonic stage covers from 2 - 8 weeks after conception.
The length of pregnancy is computed using Nagale's rule, which counts back 3 months from the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP) and then adds 7 days. This is how a due date is figured.
My source was Potter & Perry's Fundamentals of Nursing.
I hope this helps.

It is easier to get pregnant 3-14 days after your last period. It is harder to get pregnant closer to your period like 15-29 days aftet your last period is more difficult for pregnancy. You will have a clear sticky discharge when you are ovulating and this will vary between people and can last a few days or over a week but depends. This is the best time to conceinve.
Let your spouses sperm count build up, don't have sex for a few days or a week or longer and you can get pregnant easier. I have a friend that wanted to get pregnant and so her and her husband had sex every day. This will drain the sperm count... It is BEST to not have sex for a week or longer and then wait until you ovulate and bam you can get prengnant easier. It will take a lot longer if you try to guess and have sex everyday or every other day...
