Because of various family problems in my childhood/past my mother would never allow me to have a bank account or a passport etc.
It has made things hard for me now, Im 26 and still don't have these things.
The thing is, I want to get a passport because I am planning on going on holiday this year.
Mum refuses to tell me anything at all about my dad, all I know is his name.
I can't get my passport without my dads info too. Is there anything I can do?
As I don't know him or know where he is I posted it here, if its in the wrong place I appologise.

Hi fix! I don't know if you need your father's name for this. I believe you will need your birth certificate. You are 26 and your mother should give it to you. If she won't, you can apply for a copy of it. Not sure what government office you need to do this with because I am not from the UK. Maybe someone else will be able to advise you on that.

For now, take a look at this link. You can call the passport office directly and ask them what proof of citizenship you need to get a passport. There is also an online application process.

The Identity and Passport Service - Identity and Passport Service (http://www.passport.gov.uk/index.asp)

I hope this helps. :)

Since many people don't know their father or any info about them, there has to be a method for that. And I guess being from the US, it is not uncommon for children not to have bank accounts or passport.
Just from what I am used to, you don't need the info for a passport here.
