Hi I have a Ruud AC unit I'm trying to get a couple more weeks out of and me living in Florida means I can't be without AC. The purple wire from the air compressor burned off and I was wondering what wire I could use for now to replace it? Please help

It depend on how big the compressor is, but first you must investigate on why the wire burnt

What does the wire go to? Is it low voltage or high voltage? You need to know what caused it to fail or you may cause more damage to your AC system if you just replace it. Was it just a bad connection or did it burn out do to high amperage? You could have a bad capacitor, contactor or compressor.

I agree w/ jack. Where on the unit was this wire located?

If this wire was located on the compressor you can buy a terminal repair kit.
