Let me back up a minute, He an I dated for a year in a half he and I both had baggage from previous relationships, so the break up was not a very good one.

I tried to work things out with him , but he did not want too, The email above that I reference , stated out just touching base with him he had told me he could not be my friend. So I emailed him to touch base, he then repled to my email that he had been through a scare he thought he had cancer the doctor found that he had a cyst in his throat.

Well I then emailed him the email above: My question is do you think he wanted to start the relationship again by emailing me the dramatic cancer story?
I think that he emailed the woe is me story and wanted to talk via email, then get together for coffee or dinner etc.. PLEASE GUIDE ME??

I would not read more into than what it probably is. Touching base and letting you know what is going on with him. Maybe he has just decided he is at a point where he can finally be friends with you. Unless he tells you otherwise I would think that's all it is.
