My husband proceeds to drink vodka with all kinds of medication. He takes heart medications, copd, inhalers, paxil cr, singular and many others and still drinks vodka straight. I can tell a big difference in his memory and aggressive behavior. Any info on the effects of drinking liquor with medications when older. Maybe it would scare him. Thanks sorry to ask such a question, but it is all that is on my mind day and night with him.:o

First it is not healthy, and can hurt a lot of the medication effect and be a very seroiuis problem for his healt.

Most likely he has a drinking problem since he is doing this and it is very possible if he has been drinking for years, the drinking itself is just starting to have its affect.

But the being older has little to do with it, just as much as having done it for a while.

No I doubt it will scare him, I see people on oxygen, taking their nose piece out to puff on a cig. He needs to discuss this with his doctor, he needs to try and go to AA ( but unless he wants to, he won't)

You can discuss Cirrhosis with him, as well as possible seizures, death and coma related to drinking and taking medications.

However, he will only stop when he is ready. There is nothing that we can do as loved ones to stop them.

He seems to be in pretty bad shape according to your list of meds. He has cardiopulmonary disease, possibly exema, depression and you say he washes these down with liquor. I would say he has a death wish. I would say a trip to his doctor and a good talking to by said doctor would be in order, either that or leave him to his misery and you get your life back otherwise you will be his nursemaid in the very near future.

He has to be accountable.
