Bim, take comfort in knowing that you are not the only one to be going through this. This question seems to be popping up a lot recently.

Please see this link:Hair Emergency - Removing Vaseline From The Hair (http://www.hairboutique.com/tip951.htm)

I read somewhere to put constarch powder on the hair then wash out and that works.

You are absolutely right roadrunner. That is what the link talks about and explains how to do it. :)

I wonder if baking soda would work.

It's best to use a clarifying shampoo to remove the vaseline build up on your toddler's hair.

Or if you want to save money, you can use baking soda.

missk, I don't believe baking soda would be that much less than cornstarch.

Both you and Prettylady are correct. The link I posted talks about cornstarch, adding a little baking soda if you want to, and then after letting it set to soak up the vaseline, a clarifying shampoo is to be used.

I know, I'm just being mean today... I just thought about the baking soda because that is what I use instead of clarifying shampoo. I just read the link you posted and it was very helpful. Hope I don't run into that problem!! Thanks for the info.

You are welcome honey. I hope that bim found it useful, and managed to get the vaseline out of her child's hair on Tuesday. Could you imagine having that gunk stuck in your hair for a few days. What a mess!

Baking soda is abrasive and it makes a good scrub. I would recommend using baking soda on fabrics or tiles, but not on a toddler's head or skin. Using an anti-residue shampoo or clarifying shampoo will help remove the build up on the child's hair.
