I'm not sure if this is the right section but Here it goes.

In January we bought our first home. A townhome. Our next door neighbor is the HOA president. She came to say hi, and seemed really nice.
Later she started looking at every little detail. She told us that no business cars needed to be in the parking lot. So my hubby now parks his truck and trailer outside in the street. OK that's fine I understood.

Then she came over twice , the first time because her baby was sleeping and my TV was too Loud. I told her I'm sorry that I'll try to turn it down. I didn't think it was loud. But what ever. The second time we had family over with younger kids and they were playing. She came over to let me know that her baby was sleeping and the kids were being to loud and woke her baby up. I told her I was sorry but the kids were playing and there was no way I could make them just sit there, they are kids and they play, laugh, and what ever little 4-6 year old kids do.

About a month ago we bought a truck. It had a truck shell. Since it's a work truck we took off the shell and put the shell in our back yard. The next day we got a letter asking us to remove it or else we would get fined. The propertly belongs to the HOA since we have no fence to divide our property. So we moved it and put it under our deck. Which on the letter said that anything under our deck was our property and we could store it there.

Well yesterday I come home, find a note from HOA telling me to remove the shell because the neighbors were complaining.(OH MY GOSH) I was not in the mood (stressfull day) so the first person I thought about was my next door neighbor (HOA president). I knocked and I kindly asked if she had a problem with me having the shell under MY DECK. She said YES BECAUSE HER DOG IS SCARED OF IT!! OH MY GOSH GIVE ME A BREAK!! I told her the dog didn't need to be on MY property and I was not going to move it just cause of her STUPID DOG BEING SCARED OF IT. So she said the our homes need to look nice and that was just cludder and that in a week she was going to have family over and she wanted her house to look nice, and the shell made it look ugly!! OH NO SHE DIDN'T, so I told her... That's my property, as long as your house looks nice, don't worry about mine.! I was burning up by then but I just told her I was sorry she felt that way and that I was going to talk to Management.

Today I talked to management, they don't have a problem with me having the shell under MY DECK, and it was our neighbors complaining. So I explained that it was because of the dog that they wanted me to remove it and he laughed. So I told him I was going to leave it there, he told me OK and that's it.

Now my question is, can the HOA do anything to me about this? Just because the HOA president's dog is afraid of the Shell do I have to remove it? Please help and tell me what to do with this CRAZY PICKY DUMB Neighbor!

PS SORRY SO LONG!

You need to read the bylaws of the HOA very carefully. If the bylaws state that anything under the deck is your property, then the neighbor and the HOA can't do squat about it.

You might consider putting up some inexpensive lattice work under the deck to hide the shell and keep the peace. Assuming that's allowed.

But, you obviously have a very picky neighbor who is also the HOA president. She can make life miserable for you. I would strongly suggest you get active and attend all HOA meetings. Get yourself on the board.

Hello Lots:

If you can sell now, DO IT! You've moved into a mini concentration camp and you live next door to the gestapo. And, NOW, you've gone and pissed the gestapo off. Can they do anything?? I don't know. Are they going to try?? Yup!! It ain't going to be perty.

What is it with some HOA presidents? They become little dictators.

excon has the right idea. I will never buy a property that requires me to be a part of a Home Owner's Association.

I never thought she was going to be such a pain. I love my other neighbors BUT HER. OH and by the way she is a lawyer! HeHe!

Today I'm walking around my neighborhood and look at other people's back yard, see what they have stored. I just want to see if she is targeting me or if it's really a problem.

I'm also going to talk to another neighbor and ask her if the shell bothers her.

I wish it could just be easy selling and buying a home! I would do it in no time! But I'm going to try to stick in there, if she make my life miserable, I CAN MAKE HER's :)

I would be packing - now.

If you aren't in violation of the bylaws then I would warn her that her behavior is bordering on harassment.

I could never live in one, but my sister in law does, and you will not believe the violations she gets every year.

But read the rules, and smile but if you are not in violation, stop being as nice, tell them I am sorry but my kids have a right to play, sorry but we have equal use of our home also.

If the shell is not in violation, tell them so
