I dated this girl over 4 years ago and while dating her she cheated on me with 2 other men and got pregnant. She ended up marrying one of the guys and he gave the child his last name and has been his daddy almost four years now. This woman has contacted me and says she is filing for paternity and child support if the child comes back mine. I want to sign over all my rights and avoid paying child support, can I do this and how? Thanks, Confused in Tennessee

Signing over rights does not relieve you of the liability of paying child support if you are indeed the father. There is NO WAY out of paying child support if you are the father as long as she pursues it.

If you had bothered to read the many threads on this issue, you would see that this just won't wash. If the test shows the child is yours, then you have a responsibility you can't relinquish. You Can abandon the child from the point of being a parent, but not from support.

That being said, I would contact an attorney. Given the fact that she married someone who put their name on the birth certificate, you MIGHT be able to refuse the paternity test.
