There may be some information on the following site that may be of help to you. I hope that it is. There can be many reasons lumps or knots develop on feet. I have bumps/lumps on my feet. But, I think that it is because I eat so much food that has calcium in it. Also, my bumps/lumps are near to my big toes. Your sons problem could also just be a benign cyst.
