We recently purchased and installed two different Harbor Breeze ceiling fans. They have both developed the same problem - all three speed settings are now high speed. We solved the problem for one fan by installing a wall switch that changes the speed. That seems to work fine - we can now get high, medium, and low speeds from the fan. However, these switches are about $20, which is disappointing considering the fan was only $50 and is virtually new. When the second fan developed this problem, we changed out the switch inside the fan ($2). However, that did not solve the problem. What else could be causing this problem? These are great fans otherwise. They are quiet, do not wobble and are very low-priced. My parents have several of these fans installed in their house and have not had this problem with any of them.

Probably a bad capacitor. I would return the fans to the store for new ones.

I have the same problem with my Harbor Breeze fan. I have checked the capcitor and all three mfd capacitance are good. I have also changed the switch and still have the problem. Mine is stuck in med. Speed.
