Hello,

We have a town house.
Two floors each approximately 500 square feet consisting of:

1- Living/Dining Combo, Small Kitchen & Half Bath
2- Two Bedrooms, Full Bath, Stairwell Landing

We want to replace an old single zone Ductless Air Conditioning System, with a dual or tri zone. We have excellent access floor to floor. Our questions are:

1-What capacity would we need?
2-Are there installation requirements?
3-Can we or our electrician set most of the system up, leaving the coolant part to another contractor?
3-Are there brand recommendations?

Thank you.

With two floors of 500 sq ft each and good guestament is a 12,000 but unit for each floor. Rule of thumb is 600 sq ft per ton.

For a real accurate calculation you will have to do a manual J or have someone local do it for you.

This way you control each floor separately.
