I was in my basement today and noticed a few mini puddles along our water lines. We have large cast iron pipes that are looking pretty rusty, and they are covered in water droplets. I am not sure whether they are sewer or clean water lines, but they are not looking too good ... I live in CT and have had A LOT of rain over the past week, could that be the problem? If we do have to replace these pipes, how much do you think it will cost?
I am open to any and all suggestions.

If it's cast iron the it's a drainage pipe. But I'm not convinced that what you have isn't condensate caused ny the high humidity in your area. I would check farther. Older cast iron can lose the tar coating and rust on the outside but still be good. Before you even think about replacing pipes double check to be sure it's a leak and not condensate. Let me know what you find. Regards, Tom
