I want to loose 10 lbs ASAP! I am thinking of starting the South Beach Diet. Has anyone done this, does it work well, and is that ideal for me? I exercise at least three times a week, and don't want to feel weak or shakey during my exercising. Please advise... Thanks.

I don't believe in any diet plan that limits or has a rigid menu of foods or selections you have to eat or not allowed to eat. To me diets that emphasize a quantity of certain foods vs overall nutritional quality are a quick fix diet. Losing more that 3 pounds a week can signal the metabolism to go into survival mode and this will decrease the calories burned everyday ad this makes losing difficult. You body needs certain nutrients daily forhealthy body function. Eating an appropriate number of calories froma balanced diets includes fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean meat, skinless chicken, turkey breast, loin type meats, fish and fat free dairy. Watch portion size, read nutritional labels, learn what one portion is, and stick to it. Meats 2-3 oz is a portion size. For fat loss a good start is to reduce calories by at least 100-500 but never more than 1,000 calories a day. To lose weight you need to cause a caloric reduction by reducting your calories below your normal intake. ANd exercise your whole body 3-4 times a week, at least 30 minutes.
