The Colt six-shooter was of little use in fighting the comanche and kiowa.

Somehow I can't see this as a homework question, if so what are we studying the NRA?
But the six shooter was not that much help in any of the Indian Wars, the range was not far enough. The repeater rifle was the main weapon that changed the Indian wars.
But just honestly, it was the fact that we had 1000's of troops and they had little numbers of fighters, so we could have used sling shots and finally won just by having so many more troops than they had.

Yes, long guns are the weapons of war.
In the military, traditionally, hand guns were carried mostly for show. 3396

If we are studying the settlement of the west -- it might be in the text book , just to indoctrinated kids while they are young to believe handguns are worthless. Or am I being cynical again? -- Savage
