I'm not sure if my bαby is consipαted or not-- but her bowel movements hαve been getting hαrd, she just turned 10 weeks todαy, I've been told to use corn syrup? Umm whαt should I do?.

By the way I'm bottle feeding her.

Have you added anything to her formula? Cereal maybe? Does she strain when she has a BM? How many BMs a day does she have?

I hate to answer questions with questions, but these need to be addressed before I go on.

**EDIT** What formula are you using? Is it iron fortified? If so, the iron is most likely the culprit and you may need to change formulas.

No it's doesn't seem she hαs α problem doing her business, αnd she does hαve bowel movements everydαy.. αnd no I hαve not put αnything in her formulα.

I'm using Similαc Advαnced- originαl (the dαrk green one with the teddy beαr in the lαbel)..
The only problem is thαt I find her stools rαther hαrd-- but then αgαin she's not hαving αny sort of discomfort.

If there is not discomfort and she is going at least daily, then there should be little to worry about. Her little intestines are just getting used to the world outside of Mom.

Nothing to be concerned about unless there is discomfort or she starts missing BMs. Check the formula, is it iron fortified? Excess iron can cause constipation.

I have to say you would seriously know if she was constipated they scream blue bloody murder when they try and go if they are, as long as she is going I wouldn't be concerned.

Millie luickily has only suffered once and boy oh boy she screamed I had to sit there holding her feet so she could push against me it was awfull.
If she is going with no pain don't worry about it id still mention it to your health visitor next time you see her/him though.
Im sure your little bundle is just fine lots of love xxx

Joshua suffered from severe gas and constipation once. It was a high pitch scream that you would never forget. Babies pooh changes but as long as the baby is going pooh, its all good.

I would mention it to your doctor next visit, like CBW recommends. It is normal to have a freak out when you're a new parent.

I believe that any time you have a concern about a baby that young you need to consult your doctor.
The doc expects this from new Mommy's and there is nothing more comforting than hearing the doctor say " this is OK."
You will learn as you go and before long you will know what need attention and what doesn't, but your best teacher is the nurse and the doctor who sees your child. They know your child and they know what is "normal for your child.
Don't worry about being over concerned.. there is no such thing at this young age.
