AGAIN the people of Iran are rising up against their oppressor regime. Most likely it was be brutally suppressed as in the past.
Iran protests spread as government shutdown hits 21 provinces | Fox News (https://www.foxnews.com/world/iran-shutdown-protests-intensify-amid-leadership-shake-up-deepening-crisis)
In the past protests ,the US did not lend sufficient support to the protest and that was a contributing factor for it's failure.
It appears that there is some kind of consensus that it is better to deal with the devil you know . I take their threats seriously when they call for our deaths.
The emperor wasted an opportunity to being on the right side of history when he did not support the 2009 rebellion in the hope that a nuke deal could be made.(I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt instead of assigning more nefarious reasons )
Trump the deal maker could be tempted to fall into the same trap.
As in the 2009 revolt ;the protesters need a way to communicate and coordinate their efforts . Sending them SAT phones could've made a difference. Maybe a constellation of Starlink would do the trick now.
Trump has the statutory power to act ;holding the leaders of Iran personally responsible .

He can also enforce oil sanctions as he is doing in Venezuela .
U.S. secondary sanctions aim to deny revenue to the primary malign actor by imposing costs to dissuade foreign persons from participating in activities that are illegal for U.S. persons. Iranian petroleum exports reportedly hit a record (https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Irans-Oil-Exports-Climb-to-the-Highest-Level-in-6-Years.html) in the first quarter of 2024, with "almost all" going to China (Figure 1). An October 2024 Economist investigation (https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/2024/10/17/inside-the-secret-oil-trade-that-funds-irans-wars) estimated that Iranian petroleum and petrochemical sales generated as much as $70 billion in 2023.

Tough for the regime to maintain power if they don't have the oil revenue to grease the palms of their supporters .
Trump has done a masterful job forging an anti-Iran coalition in the Middle East . It is time for an all out effort to end the regime and the global threat it brings .
