2003 $107 billion in extra funds was given to the US Postal Services (USPS) to stop the bleeding of consistently being in the red.

How did that work out ?

Fiscal Year 2025 they reported $9 Billion in losses even after reporting $80.5 billion in revenue

Maybe we should take a page from European nations who have already begun the process of privatization of the post office.

For Deutsche Post, privatizing was a smart move (https://www.marketplace.org/story/2011/11/03/deutsche-post-privatizing-was-smart-move)

The Green New Steal allocated $3 billion to replace the USPS fleet of delivery trucks with 35,000 EV vehicles. The money was paid to Wisconsin's Oshkosh Defense

Next-Generation Delivery & Fleet Vehicles | Oshkosh Defense (https://oshkoshdefense.com/vehicles/delivery-vehicles/)

So far they delivered 612 vehicles . I hate reporting this because the vehicles are made in SC .

6,651 charging ports have been commissioned at 75 sites to service the EV fleet

Senator Joni Ernst ;who chairs the Senate’s DOGE caucus, pronounced the program “a tremendous waste” Her 'Return to Sender ' Bill would end the contract

Ernst’s “Return to Sender” Act about EVs for Postal Service « KJAN | Radio Atlantic, IA – AM 1220 (https://www.kjan.com/index.php/2025/08/ernsts-return-to-sender-act-about-evs-for-postal-service/)
Meanwhile USPS has been adding to the fleet with Ford E-Transit trucks .The problem with that is that they are left hand drive ;and USPS uses right hand drive vehicle for curb side deliveries .

USPS claims they are on tract to fulfill the contract .
USPS is delivering its new fleet – USPS Employee News (https://news.usps.com/2025/12/01/usps-is-delivering-its-new-fleet/)

But many of the new vehicles being produced are gas internal combustion engines .

“So far, more than 35,000 new vehicles are on the road,” the release added, without clarifying that many of these appear to still be using internal combustion engines.
Pastre told Ernst that “the Postal Services has plans to acquire 40,250 internal combustion delivery vehicles” and has already acquired 26,341, noting in his letter the “delivery of 2,602 NGDV ICE vehicles, 14,489 Mercedes Metris, and 9,250 Ram Promasters.”

So let's say you drop off your tax returns to the post office on April 15.
You got them there on time ..........right ?

Not necessarily . That's the way it used to work. But USPS changed the rules . As of Dec 24 (what you did not hear this before now ? ) , the new rules say the post mark day may not be the day it was delivered .

USPS Changes to Postmark Date System Taking Effect December 24, 2025 — Current Federal Tax Developments (https://www.currentfederaltaxdevelopments.com/blog/2025/12/8/usps-changes-to-postmark-date-system-taking-effect-december-24-2025)

The way works is a tax return or payment is considered filed on the date of the U.S. postmark, not the date of receipt by the IRS. This means taxpayers can mail returns and checks up to—and including—the filing deadline, confident that a timely postmark will protect them from penalties and interest.

The new rules say that the postmark reflects the day it was processed......NOT the day it was delivered . So you think you got your tax return in on time . But maybe you didn't .

Same deal for payments ;and charitable contributions and dare I say ;mail in ballots . Don't wait until the last day. You may be late.
