Trump negotiated a deal that would end the Gaza War . If successful this will rival the Camp David Accords in it's impact .

Even the emperor was impressed

Barack Obama on X: "After two years of unimaginable loss and suffering for Israeli families and the people of Gaza, we should all be encouraged and relieved that an end to the conflict is within sight; that those hostages still being held will be reunited with their families; and that vital aid can" / X (https://x.com/BarackObama/status/1976344893904576708)

Meanwhile the Dems continue to keep the government shut down because they want illegals to get free health care.

Emboldened Democrats dig in on health care demands in shutdown fight (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/emboldened-democrats-dig-health-care-demands-shutdown-fight-rcna236625)

Oh they deny it is about illegal immigrants . But it is.

They say that illegals are not eligible. On the surface that is correct. Both Medicaid and Obamacare are theoretically denied to illegals.

But the facts are that many states made illegals eligible. Then the Federal government reimburses the states . In addition ; hospitals cannot deny treatment to anyone who goes to the hospital . That includes illegals. That gets paid for with Medicaid funds.
States tax hospitals and send most of the tax money right back to the hospitals. When the money is returned, it is labeled “Medicaid supplemental payment.” This label triggers a federal matching payment to the states.

Even without this issue of illegals health care the Dems are off base. Medicaid was expanded tremendously during the covid years.

NHE Fact Sheet | CMS (https://www.cms.gov/data-research/statistics-trends-and-reports/national-health-expenditure-data/nhe-fact-sheet)

The Big Beautiful Bill cut back funding to pre-covid levels.

The Dem's shut down is largely because they want the levels of funding to remain .

Think about it . Trump tells the illegals to self deport . He is even offering cash incentives for them to leave.

Dems tell illegals that even though Trump is deporting ; and there are no jobs for them ; stick around . At least you get free health care.
For the Dems it is a matter of survival. These are their future voters

Here is the health care system the Dems want to protect.

The United States spends almost five trillion dollars a year (https://www.cms.gov/data-research/statistics-trends-and-reports/national-health-expenditure-data) on healthcare, and still manages to deliver worse outcomes than most wealthy nations. This paradox has been explained in many ways—an aging population, complex insurance arrangements, overuse of technology. But one answer, long suspected and now undeniable, is far simpler: Americans aren’t paying more because they get more care. They’re paying more because the same care costs wildly different amounts depending on where you live, which hospital you choose, and which insurer happens to cover you.

The result is a jarring portrait of inconsistency that borders on absurd. A coronary bypass without complications, for example, has a national median negotiated price of roughly $68,000. Yet depending on the hospital, the same operation might cost as little as $27,000 in rural Louisiana or as much as $248,000 in New Jersey. In Pennsylvania alone, the price of bowel surgery billed to the same insurer ranged from $18,000 to $87,000 across hospitals. And even at a single facility, insurers pay very different sums: one Boston hospital charged Aetna $96,000 for a bypass but billed UnitedHealthcare $144,000 for the same procedure.

This week the national debt soared over $38 trillion. The Dems have held the government hostage for almost a month because they want to add $1.5 trillion to this absurd healthcare system

btw to put the $38 trillion in context ;we reached a national debt of $37 trillion in August . Took only 2 months to add another $trillion . We are now paying $1 trillion in interest alone. To put that in perspective ;the whole annual defense budget is less than the interest ($850 billion)

When you add together mandatory spending on Social Security ;Medicare and Medicaid with the interest on the debt and the defense spending ;you have a whole 14 % of the budget that is discretionary .
The Dems want to add $1.5 trillion in spending
The Repubs think they are holding the line by passing a continuing resolution to keep spending at the levels that Madam Mim Pelosi and Schmuck Schumer passed in 2008

Since then there have been numerous bills passed to increase spending. Including the ACA and other "temporary " bills to hand out monopoly money due to the covid pandemic. Even the Trump and Repub Big Beautiful Bill raised spending by $325 billion .

oh and btw Trump and Co is taking a victory lap because the inflation rate was "only " 3 % year on year. Great news !!!</sarc>

And this is before the full effect of tariffs get passed on to consumers.

Let's see .......$1 in 2025 will have the value of 73 cents in 10 years if the rate remains unchanged.

Trump has beaten down Fed Chain Jerome Powell . He no longer resists lower interest rates because clearly accepts that 3% inflation is the new benchmark.

Last week the Dems voted against paying the troops and other federal workers like air traffic controllers and border agents; who have been working without pay.
Next week SNAP benefits will expire and we will be shown endless reports of starving children by the compliant press. They voted down a defense funding authorization.
Besides blocking the pay ;the Schumer led Dems have voted down extending the CR for the 12th time.

As the shutdown drags on their position has hardened even more. They think they have a winning hand ;and they may be right.

45 percent of registered voters think Republicans in Congress are more responsible for the government shutdown, while 39 percent think Democrats in Congress are more responsible and 11 percent volunteered that they think both parties are equally responsible,
