NY sure knows how to pick em . With a week to go before the NYC Dem primary ......The winner will be crowned mayor since NYC is a one party city .....it appears that Andrew il Duce Cuomo is headed for a political come back as improbable as that sounds.
If there were any justice then his murder of the elderly during covid(around 15,000) ;his predatory sexual harassments of women ;and his thoroughly corrupt and incompetent stint as Guv would've ended his political career and probably given him an extended stay at Sing Sing .
But leave it up the the city to have a candidate slate so loony tunes that Cuomo appears to be the sane and safe choice.
One of his opponents ;Comptroller Brad Lander did what has become obligatory for loony Dems . He got himself arrested impeding ICE.
Brad Lander, the New York City comptroller who is running for mayor, was arrested on Tuesday by federal agents at an immigration courthouse in Lower Manhattan as he tried to escort a migrant whom agents were seeking to arrest.
Brad Lander, NYC Mayoral Candidate, Arrested by ICE Agents at Immigration Courthouse - The New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/17/nyregion/brad-lander-immigration-ice.html)
At a news conference, Mr. Lander rejected claims that his arrest had been a premeditated publicity stunt and denied that he had assaulted anyone, saying, “Seriously?”
and I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell ya.
But as bad as that sounds ,he is not the worse. Meet Zohran Mamdani . He makes All Out Crazy seem moderate . Heck ;he makes Sandinista Bill look centrist .He is a member of the Democratic Socialist of America Party and a Shia Muslim who like the Mahdi Hatter is a 12th Iman believer (the 12th Iman the Mahdi will return from a well he fell into;the Well of Ghaibat ...or something like that ).
The good people of Queens elected him as their Rep in the state Assembly . A native Ugandan his family move to NYC when he was 7 .
His views are predictably radical lefty including defund the police so there can be a more a more 'community-based approach '. He wants to freeze rents of privately owned rentals. He wants a minimum wage of $30/hr . He wants city and state universities to be tuition free. He wants free public transportation for buses and subways .......all paid for by taxing the rich and fleecing car and truck drivers .
He of course is anti-Israel and supports BDS polices against them(strange position to take in a city that has so many Jews.)
He appeals to the youth adopting the hip hop culture though his videos
He is making headway in the race . But despite a thoroughly uninspiring campaign by Cuomo ;Cuomo holds the lead with a week to go. Nanny Bloomy who pretty much hates Cuomo's guts has endorsed him and gave $5 million to his PAC.
The NY Slimes will not make an endorsement . But made it clear ....We do not believe that Mr. Mamdani deserves a spot on New Yorkers’ ballots.
Hard to predict the outcome because NYC has that convoluted 'rank choice' voting system. Whoever wins it will be a choice between the worse of the worse.

Today's NYC primary may indicate which way the Dem party goes in the future. Will they go for an old guard completely corrupted leader ,or a young radical socialist ;a guy who makes Sandinista Bill look moderate ?

The results are in . Dems in NYC nominate Zohran Mamdani ,a radical Islamist Socialist ,for mayor. He beat the completely corrupted Tammany Hall establishment candidate Andrew Cuomo ;who resigned as governor in disgrace .
Now their best hope is electing Eric Adams who is making an independent run or the very long shot run of former head of the Guardian Angels Curtis Sliwa who won the Repub primary .How is it that that the wealthiest, most sophisticated, politically well informed electorate in America comes to this ??????????

Meanwhile in Chi-town . Mayor Brandon apparently likes youth violence . The city council voted in a curfew that would've permitted the police the power to disperse large late night gatherings of teens aka "teen takeovers " . He vetoed it.
His logic ??????????????? Well in the past ,curfews led to incarcerations .Therefore the problem was the curfews . The law actually would not restrict gatherings so there is no 1st amendment issues per se . It gives police the power to break up unruly gatherings . But apparently that prevents teens their right to wilding the night away .

So which candidate said this
“I am a traditional Democrat who believes you have to keep the working middle class and the poor in one party because once you don’t, once the middle class goes over to the right with the rich, they bludgeon the poor,” he says. “The whole society suffers because of the social disorientation that produces crime, deterioration, everything evil. You cannot live with a large part of this state or nation deprived. It can’t be done. You can’t build a wall between you and them and say maybe they’ll go away."
That was Zohran Mamdani playing the class card ..... right ?
No . That was Mario Cuomo ;father of il duce Cuomo in 1982 . Cuomo got beat by the Marxist ghost of his old man.

The results of NYC's primaries may be an indicator that socialism is on the march and capitalism is on a death spiral. The appeal of freebies is too seductive.
Of course his answer is to go after the affluent whites to fund his utopia ;a sure way to drive them out of the city as if the escape from NY has not already depleted available revenue . (yes the people still have the right to move for now )
Socialist NYC mayoral contender Zohran Mamdani wants to hike property taxes for 'richer and whiter neighborhoods' (https://nypost.com/2025/06/27/us-news/socialist-nyc-mayoral-contender-zohran-mamdani-wants-to-hike-property-taxes-for-richer-and-whiter-neighborhoods/)
His craziest idea may be city run stores. This idea has been a failure from small communities to large nations . Speaking from experience as having been in the purchasing and requisition end of business for years ; the coordination of keeping business supplied with goods needed at the best prices is a very complex operation. Private groceries try this while at the same time maintaining very low margins . The good ones have decades of supply chain expertise coordinating daily with hundreds of vendors, farmers, manufacturers and local producers to bring fresh, affordable food to their shelves . Good luck handing that off to bureaucrats who can't manage to have a single project come in on time and on budget.
You want Soviet style bread lines and shortages ? You want the whole city to be a food desert ? Go ahead and vote for Mamdani .
socialism

capitalism

The sad fact is that his soviet style grocery stores would not replace the Walmart's . They would replace the small mom and pop bodega like groceries that already have a challenge surviving in the city.

So his big plan is to transform housing by going after richer and whiter neighborhoods.
Wondering if that includes his mom's ???
She is an award winning film maker Mira Nair. She owns a $2million luxury apartment in the exclusive West Chelsea neighborhood.

His father is a Columbia professor .
He took a page from All Out Crazy's playbook .She came from a "white " neighborhood in Westchester in the suburbs of NYC . She claims roots in the Bronx . Yes she was born there . But her parents moved to Yorktown Heights when she was a child. Back then she was known as Sandy .
Sandy Cortez from the Burbs: a patronizing poseur (https://nypost.com/2025/07/01/opinion/sandy-cortez-from-the-burbs-a-patronizing-poseur/)
By the way ;his target ;the " white " neighborhood is a shrinking target due to the attacks on them by progressive tax the rich policies. The white population of the city, 43% in 1990, now hovers around 33%.
The ones left are the pampered children of the upper middle class who have hardly ever had to work for their meals . Yes housing sucks there . They rent lofts and suck down over priced lattes in the morning ;and eat $100 dinners instead of saving for the future. The nanny state will provide. This TikTok generation are his biggest supporters.

Like Mamdani himself, his most vocal supporters grew up in comfort and were told they were exceptional. They were shielded from the consequences of their behaviors. Their support for defunding the police doesn't come from living in high-crime areas; their opposition to conservatorship doesn't come from watching an addicted or mentally ill loved one deteriorate untreated. Boomers told their millennial children from childhood that they were special, that success would follow passion, and that college degrees would guarantee prosperity. Instead, they graduated into debt, a gig economy, and unaffordable housing.
Rather than confront the structural and personal forces behind their disappointment, including delayed adulthood, bad policy, and collapsing institutions, they channeled their resentment towards landlords, employers, and anyone who appears to have what they were promised.
Michael Shellenberger on X: "New York's socialist mayoral frontrunner appeals to youthful idealism, say the media. In truth, he appeals to their entitlement and envy. oops this was my prediction before NYC went completely bat s**t crazy . Adams and il Duce Cuomo ;both as corrupt as can be ;are the rivals to front runner Zohran Mancommie's Islamic Marxist candidacy.
Cuomo is branding him as getting rich from real estate laws that Cuomo signed into law.
Here’s the amusing part. Mr. Cuomo says Mr. Mamdani should move out of his rent-stabilized apartment in Astoria where “you and your wife pay $2,300 a month.” Why? Because, Mr. Cuomo says, “millions of low income New Yorkers need this apartment and an apartment like it. Yet your apartment remains rented to rich people who don’t need it.”
Well, everyone needs housing, and there’s not enough of it in the city. That’s why rents are so high. Laws that Mr. Cuomo signed as Governor last decade exacerbated the housing shortage by expanding rent restrictions. Those controls on rents enable Mr. Mamdani and others who aren’t poor to live in rent-stabilized apartments forever.

I have detailed his corruption many times .
Adams has former aides getting indicted but so far the corruption that he managed has not taken him down.

That leaves Repub Curtis Sliwa of Guardian Angels fame. In a sane world he would have a real shot at winning . But NYC is hopeless.

Then they elected Trump who says 'Mancommie ...... he's a communist!!! '
' Hey I have a great idea .... let's have the government take a 10% stake in intel !! '
Did Mancommie visit the White House to advise him ?
Bolshevik Bernie chimed in . He likes the idea . What a surprise!
US Senator Sanders favors Trump plan to take stake in Intel and other chipmakers | Reuters (https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-senator-sanders-favors-trump-plan-take-stake-intel-other-chipmakers-2025-08-20/)
"If microchip companies make a profit from the generous grants they receive from the federal government, the taxpayers of America have a right to a reasonable return on that investment," Sanders, an Independent who caucuses with Democrats, said in a statement to Reuters.
10% .....why not 20% ? That would be a better return ..... How about 50.1% ?
When a Dem becomes Pres they can use the additional stake to fund all types of gimmees
Flashback 2009 Repubs oppose Obama plan to take over GM
“
Americans shouldn’t be fooled. This is the real ‘change’ President Obama has in mind for America — government ownership of our economy financed with irresponsible and reckless government spending and debt and no jobs to show for it,” Steele said. “This is a very sad day for the autoworkers and their families whose financial well-being will be directly affected by this clear act of an overreaching UAW and overbearing government.”
RNC, Chamber rail against GM plan (https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/17434-rnc-chamber-rail-against-gm-plan/)
But when Trump proposes it .... crickets .... except for Rand Paul

Yes there is a national security stake in chip production in the US . Government ownership is not the solution. And what other industries that are critical should the government have a stake in ?

Are the Chinese running the Mancommie campaign ? The NY Slimes thinks it may be true .
It sounded like something out of a spy novel rather than a tip about New York politics. Yet credible sources kept telling us that China is pushing its agenda into American democracy by screening candidates, targeting lawmakers and throwing its weight around in New York elections.
