The Trump administration has released thousands of government files dealing with the assassination of JFK . I don't expect conspiracy theories like Oliver Stone's will be confirmed . I will let historians and people with too much time on their hands take a magnifying glass to the files to find the smoking gun. I also suspect we are still not getting the whole story.
This is what we will confirm ....stuff people did not know necessarily in 1963 before we became a cynical nation; that the government is incompetent and not above doing evil.
Folks in the 50s and early 60s had much more faith in the government to do the right thing.

It was possible to believe that a single guy in a factory window could gun down a President travelling through a choke point in an open convertible . It was possible to believe that a magic bullet could defy the laws of physics. (Arlen Specter missed his calling . He should've been a fiction novelist )
The theory says that a three-centimeter-long (1.2") copper-jacketed lead-core rifle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rifle) bullet from a Model 91/38 Carcano (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcano), fired from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_School_Book_Depository), passed through President Kennedy's neck into Governor Connally's chest, went through his right wrist, and embedded itself in Connally's left thigh. If so, this bullet traversed a back brace, 15 layers of clothing, seven layers of skin, and approximately 15 inches (38 cm) of muscle tissue, and pulverized 4 inches (10 cm) of Connally's rib, and shattered his radius bone (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radius_bone). The bullet was found on a gurney (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurney) in the corridor at Parkland Memorial Hospital (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkland_Memorial_Hospital) after the assassination. The Warren Commission found that this gurney was the one that had carried Governor Connally

These days the only way to restore the trust in the government will be through complete transparency. I don't expect that to happen any time soon despite every President promising to be the most transparent ever .
