Trump nominee for Attorney General, Matt Gaetz, is unfit for the job. We cannot have the lead law enforcement officer of the land be someone who pays for sex and does illegal drugs.

Lawyer tells ABC News his 2 clients told House Ethics Committee that Gaetz paid them for sex - ABC News (https://abcnews.go.com/US/lawyer-tells-abc-news-2-clients-told-house/story?id=115863675)

The moron used his Venmo account for the transactions while he was in Congress.

Joel Leppard said his clients have already told the House Ethics Committee that they attended between five and 10 “sex parties” with Gaetz between mid-2017 and the end of 2018, when he was serving his first term in Congress.
They reportedly further described the gatherings as “group sex situations” where illegal drugs were consumed, and where one of the women claims to have seen Gaetz having sex with an underage friend up against a games table.

Trump Pick Matt Gaetz Accused of Participating in Up to 10 Drug-Fueled Orgies (https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-pick-matt-gaetz-accused-130843906.html)

The House Ethics Committee will release their report despite Speaker Johnson requesting they don't .

Prolonging this will just make it harder for Trump's other nominees ;especially Def Sec nominee Pete Hegseth who has his own mini sex scandal to answer for (as well as a Crusader tattoo that is being interpreted as some kind of white supremist secret symbol ) . RFK Jr will face opposition and Tulsi Gabbard is being smeared .

It is up to all the nominees to defend themselves . But in Gaetz case Trump should cut his losses. Someone in Trump's camp need to persuade Gaetz to drop out .....the sooner the better .

Trump names Pam Bondi for attorney general after Gaetz withdraws (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cjr4g50wxp2o)

I understand that Bondi actually is considered to be very qualified for the job. A little better judgment by the Trump team on that one.

Giving the Trump team the benefit of the doubt (although I can't fathom how they could have not seen the Gaetz pick disaster ) ;I suspect they saw that he had been investigated for 2 years by Clueless Joe's DOJ ;and came out of it with no charges filed.

They should've known however that the House Ethics Committee had the dirt on him .

They are running into a similar issue with Hegseth . In that case however it is all on Hegseth . He was up front about the controversy about him and did not reveal to Susie Wiles that he had the police report of the incident , I expect Trump will get rid of him before Thanksgiving.

Hegseth needs to be dropped for a variety of reasons, chief amongst them being the fact that he is not qualified.

I am still doing my research on Bondi . It is good that the left is freaking out over the pick . That is probably because she defended Trump in the impeachment.

But there are some things that give me pause ;mostly because there is so much at stake with this appointment. Jeff Sessions was as tough as they come as a DA . He took on the KKK among other bad guys. Yet when he took office as Att General ;he folded to the deep state .

Flashback 2012 when Florida was a purple state .

Florida Guv Rick Scott appointed Pam Bondi to prosecute George Zimmerman ;accused of murdering Trevon Martin. Zimmerman was clearly framed . Evidence showed he shot in self defense while his head was being bashed into the sidewalk . Yet Bondi's appointed prosecutors smeared him during the trial.

The case against Zimmerman eventually collapsed. He was acquitted. He was investigated for race crimes for another three years, and spent considerable time in prison while the cases against him proceeded. His reputation was ruined and many people still think he killed Martin with no provocation and in cold blood for racist reasons.
It was cases like this that led to BLM riots and the execution of cops .

Hegseth's nomination is in trouble. Allegations of sexual misconduct and alcohol issues. So far Trump is still backing the nomination. It is up to Hegseth to answer or to drop out. Either way expect a Kavanaugh like hearing if it gets that far .

Rumors are floated that Trump may replace him with Florida Guv Ron DeSantis . If true the hearings will be fascinating . Clearly DeSantis is qualified to run a large organization like the DOD . He is a Vet who served as a Navy lawyer in Iraq and Gitmo .

Other names floated are Sen Joni Ernst (Iowa) She served a long time in the Army Reserve and the Iowa National Guard retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel . She was the commanding officer of the 1168th Transportation Company in Kuwait and later commanded the 185th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion ;Iowa's largest Guard battalion.

Another name being considered is Elbridge Colby, who served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and Force Development during the Trump's first term. He was responsible for defense strategy, force development, and strategic analysis for policy .

He is an ally of JD Vance. He gets the China threat to US national security.

But some critics say he is soft on Iran (I don't buy it. He uses the Israeli model of an ally as the model the rest of out allies (NATO) should emulate .ie step up to the plate )

What he does not buy is a rush to war with Iran; and that was from an op-ed he wrote in 2012
Why Not to Attack Iran | The National Interest (https://nationalinterest.org/commentary/why-not-attack-iran-6352)
It would be interesting to see if his opinion has changed .

I don't necessarily agree with the position he took in the article. Iran has a nuke program close to completion and has by far been responsible for more US military deaths and injuries than any other power in the last 20 years . My position during GWOT and Iraq was that Iran was the main state sponsor of terrorism and that our exit strategy from Iraq should've been through Tehran.

The idea that Trump is floating names for replacing Hegseth does not lend confidence that he will survive the process. As noted above there is a legitimate question about Hegseth's qualifications for the job..... and if the charges against him are true then he should be replaced .
But if there is no merit and they try to do a Kavanaugh or Clarance Thomas smear campaign then Trump should stand behind him
