Are there generally code requirements for waste line runs in regards to how far the waste line runs from the roof vent? For example, if I convert an existing bedroom into a bathroom and the toilet is say 10 feet away from the waste line roof vent, is that going to be a problem?

Let me quote from Table 1409.3 of the Standard Plumbing Code titled "Distance of Fixture Trap from Vent",
Size of Fixture Drain Distance Trap to Vent
1 1/4" ------------------- 2 ft 6 in.
1 1/2" ------------------ 3ft. 6 in.
2" ------------------------ 5 ft 0 in.
3" ------------------------ 6 ft 0 in.
4" ------------------------ 10 ft 0.in.

If I utilize an overhead loop vent from the trap back to the main stack, can the waste-line runs be longer than than what's specified in the Standard Plumbing Code?
If so, what are the rules in that case?
Thanks!

Please explain exactly what a overhead loop vent consists of? Are you saying that you would run a drain over from a dry vent to pick up a fixture and then loop up and run back and vent back into the same stack. If so there will be no distance requirements as the trap will connect directly to the vent and not through the drain line. Cheers, Tom
