OCS Coffee House was a small chair that sold coffee in the inner city in Philadelphia. The operative word here is "was" because they have shut the doors at their 3 stores.
Now 30 people have lost their job. A tragedy ? No an ironic comedy.
You see the workers at the franchise decided to go on strike demanding higher wages .
The shops were owned by OCS Realty . They operated at a loss. Serving coffee was a side gig to benefit the community . Workers got probably the average wage for service people ;they mostly rely on tips . Philadelphia has miserable winters . So there was not that much business . Their pay fluctuated accordingly.
The workers went out on strike . OCS extended benefits for the striking workers and then tried to have a meeting with them to see if an agreement could be reached. But the workers were no shows.
OCS then decided to close shop. They are considering severance packages for the staff . The staff response is to protest the closure.
Sounds like a done deal to me.

I would suggest that the workers pool their resources and try opening their own coffee franchise . Maybe that would help them appreciate what it takes to be a greedy capitalist .
