Don't believe me ? How else does one explain the Congressional Dem proposal that would slap a 1000% tax on the price of semi-automatic guns ?
The misnamed "Assault Weapon" Excise tax was introduced in June of last year But died before enacted .
H.R.8051 - 117th Congress (2021-2022): Assault Weapons Excise Act | Congress.gov | Library of Congress (https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/8051#:~:text=Introduced%20in%20House%20(06%2F14%2F 2022)&text=This%20bill%20imposes%20an%20additional,a%20s tate%20or%20local%20government.)
Rep. Don Beyer, (D-Va), and 24 other House Dems introduced a new version of the legislation Friday. The text of the new bill is not out yet but presumably it is close to the same bill from last year.
They sent a letter to Speaker McCarthy demanding action .
As Members of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, we call on you to schedule votes on gun violence prevention legislation as soon as possible this year. We also have a new standing request that should the vote schedule fall apart again, you would fill that time to vote on lifesaving gun violence prevention legislation, instead of canceling votes altogether.

Keep your eyes on this one . It is a spending bill .That means if it fails as a stand alone ,it could be buried in an omnibus spending bill.
I also suggest they change the name of the bill to 'The Bill Gates and Elon Musk right to own guns bill '.
