I've read estimates in the $10s of billions to harden schools and to have at least one armed guard in every school in the country . Given the fact that our aid to Ukraine was over $100 billion in 2022 alone I think we could afford to protect our children.
In Israel where the threat of terrorist attacks are daily , they long ago spent the resources to prevent attacks on their schools . This includes armed guards who are employed by the police inside and outside the schools Hardening the schools ,and training staff and students on procedures . We could do the same.
The training should be as automatic as fire drills (the last time a fire killed more than 10 people in school was in 1958)
These silly unconstitutional gun control proposals are divisive and do not stop attacks on schools . After 9-11 no one proposed banning box cutters .What was done instead was tightening security measure to prevent future attacks. We protected the target .
