The annual event is called Oscar Night . Presumably they recognize their best . I admit to the fact that I only saw 2 of the movies up for award. 'All Quite on the Western Front' was a brilliant adaption of the Erich Maria Remarque book . He was a WWI vet and knew the horrors of trench warfare 1st hand . The movie deservingly won it's award for Best International Film.

The other movie I saw was 'Elvis'. There were outstanding performances by Austin Butler as Elvis and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker . Hanks was panned for the role. I thought it was brilliant . ' Elvis ' left the building with nothing.

So be it

One of the presenters was Donnie Yen . He does martial arts roles ;most recently in a 'John Wicks' sequel . He also has roles in Disney's endless 'Star Wars' spinoffs .

He is a Hong Kong resident born in China . His family emigrated to the US when he was 11 . He became an American citizen . He renounced it in 2010 and became a Chinese citizen. He was critical of the Hong Kong protests . He is a Chi-com supporter being an active member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) which I have noted previously is a front group for the CCP.

There was a petition to remove him as a presenter . Although I sympathize with the sentiment behind the petition I would not have supported it . Let the lefties ban thought and expression if they want to . I do not support the cancel culture no matter which side participates in it .
