I am on workmans comp. and since my injury I have fallen behind on my bills (I'm only getting 1/3 of what I was bringing home) I did ask my lawyer to request a advance from my settlement money. My lawyer was unsure of how long it would take to get a response from work comp. so I was just wondering what the normal procedure was or if anyone knew how long it would take to get any answers... thanks!

Well of course you are assuming they will settle withouta law suit.
But what you are doing is asking for an advance from the insurance carrier that your employer used to insure the workers comp, My expereince is the normal procedure is they refuse or try to use this as a chance to settle for a much lower amount of money knowing you are hard up for money. Their normal tatics I have seen time and time again, is to streach it out as far and as long as they can hoping to force you into a settlement that will be in their benefit.
And often what I have seen is of course if you have medical bills ( even if your health insurance is paying them( the settlement has to pay back the health insurance company or pay the hospital your medical bills so by the time the attorney gets his cut you get very little for your own pocket.
