Jesus takes his inner circle up on top of a hill. He's transformed and they get to see a taste of things to come.
Good old Peter, my ADD-brother, can't handle the silence. "Uh, we're out in the open here and the elements could turn nasty. Should we build you guys some shelters?"
The text plainly says he didn't know what to say. Someone should have told him that when you don't know what to say, the best thing to say is...nothing.
A cloud envelops them and a voice says "this is my son, listen to him." Doesn't answer the question, doesn't address the situation. So here's my colloquial rendering.

Peter: "Uh, master, should we, uh, build some lean-tos for you guys?"
Voice: "Shut up and listen."

Peter: "Uh, master, should we, uh, build some lean-tos for you guys?"
Voice: "Shut up and listen."I think you pretty well nailed it.

"But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger." Proverbs 15:18

Those who speak do not know, those who know do not speak. The ultimate, self-defeating statement.
