Trump orders private American companies to stop doing business in China.

Isn't that the dreaded SOCIALISM?

He has no such authority . Someone should take away his phone and break his fingers . He's trying to kill my portfolio ...guess I'll have to purchase some heavily discounted stocks before the bell sounds .

No it is not socialism . It is dictatorship if he had the power to enforce it

I was wrong in saying he doesn't have the authority . Congress in another abdication of their powers granted him the authority in 1977 .https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-china-trade-options-explainer/explainer-what-tools-could-trump-use-to-get-u-s-firms-to-quit-china-idUSKCN1VE00X?fbclid=IwAR3TYWXm441rEPhKqJl2vUYlCfx EPzWhc6qYV0wlMxm7-iDyEPA0Tdb2V9k

I would argue that this is hardly an unusual or extraordinary situation as required for the declaration since the underlying facts have been in existence for "decades" according to Trump himself. It is just another instance of Trump in panic mode.

Trump will soon declare an emergency, one of his own making. China is not doing what bully Trump expected and the reason is they have deeper pockets no doubt filled with all that money Trump alleges they have stolen from america

The congress can step up anytime and do the right thing, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

He tries it and we have the same kabuki dance ....court challeges et al . no Clete ,the reason Xi can hang tough for now is he doesn't have to care about what Iowa farmers say . Theoretically IF we were dealing with 2 absolute dictators then there is no way China could out last us. But there is only one absolute dictator at the table. Xi purged opposition years ago.

Xi purged opposition years ago.

How Trump must wish he could do the same. Tom don't think China is dependent on you

I think they remember being under British rule, and they still hold a grudge against euros.

The British Empire, well known for ruling the world and it's resources.

But not China, who do you think are the greatest exploiters of the world's resources, let me put it another way, who thinks they rule the world?

In a country where the majority of all consumer products are made in china, it would be impossible for US companies to stop doing business with China. The US manufacturing boom that followed WW2 is long gone after our allies rebuilt their bombed manufacturing facilities and those jobs are not coming back. Trump forgets that tariffs are paid by the BUYER, not the seller, so he is only hurting US buyers in his posturing against China.

tomder55: "Someone should take away his phone and break his fingers." I think that is an idea we can all get behind.

Oh stop, both our countries sprouted from the English loin though ours has been diluted somewhat, but we share the same conquer and dominate history, so whose fingers are YOU talking about?

That wouldn't stop him from saying crazy stuff in public. I'd invest in a muzzle.

Diluted somewhat, which invading species do you refer to? the unfortunate negro?, the hispanics who were in the americas before you were a nation? the indigenous people's, ditto. The europeans?, the asians?. I think my nation might be equally multicultural.

The only history we share is a time of british domination, we don't share the bloody history of hundreds of thousands sacrificed over somewhat foolish ideas

I think a gag would be more appropriate
