I just purchased a new gasket / diaphragm set for a Briggs and Stratton Sprint 3.75, Model 98902. The old one had the thicker gasket placed on top (the carburetor side) and the thinner rubber diaphragm on the bottom (the tank side). That looks upside down to me because of the flaps on the diaphragm.

Which is correct? Was the old one installed incorrectly?

Thanks,

Diaphragm goes to machined smooth surface.

Thanks, Don

It runs fine assembled as you said! It would be a good experiment to take it apart and see if it runs the other way.

I don't think I'll do that experiment!
