I have installed a new american standard Corvina pressure balancing bath and shower set. Turned it on but no water coming out. Water up to the control.

Hi Doug

If you have integral shutoffs... open them all the way.

Next, be sure both hot and cold water are on to the shower...if both hot and cold water pressure is not received by the valve it will not work (pressure balancing spool locks the cartridge shut).

If that isn't the issue, shut the water off, remove the cartridge inside the valve body and flush the valve body by turning water back on for a few seconds (pull shower curtain over the area to keep water from coming out onto floor). Reinstall the cartridge and check out the flow to the tub ad shower now.

If you get water out of the valve without the cartridge in place and no water out of the valve when you reinstall the cartridge then most likely, the cartridge has become clogged and will need to be replaced (A.S. cartridges cannot usually be cleaned once they get clogged hard).

Also, check the shower head by removing it entirely and clearing the screens (in head and neck of shower head)... these easily clog!

Start there...

Thank you for quick and smart response. I appreciate it. One more question what is the integral shut off?

Hi Doug

The integral shutoffs are shut offs on the hot and cold side of the shower valve (look like slotted screw heads left and right side of the valve). Most shower valves do not have them, but if you have slotted screws (need to remove the shower trim to see them) under the finish trim then that could be an issue is all.
