My HP 7410 distinctive ring is not working right. My phone and fax are set to work on double ring. The 7410 picks up all calls (regular ring and double ring.) The fax workes if it is a fax coming in. The HP fax test passed.

The user guide says to use the phone cord supplied with the 7410. I don't have the cord that came with the machine. Does anyone know what type of cord this is? Does anyone know how I can fix the problem?

Thanks Peter

I am having the same problem with my HP Officejet Model 300 fax machine. I think your machine can select different ring patterns, whereas mine only has distinctive on or off. Either way, it picks up on the regular ring most of the time. I am fearful that something in the electronics (component) is going bad, or possibly the firmware (built-in software) is flaky.

If you get any answers/possible resolution, I would be very interested to know them.
