Bought this painting at auction and was told it was brought here from France or thereabouts. Appears quite old. Oil on canvas. Cannot read signature. Any help would be much appreciated.

I can't read it either.
When you send photos, always send at least one of the back, and several more of the front, and a few close ups of the frame, for help with time and place.
