I have a 4 ton Rheem Heatpump that the Fan Motor on the Condenser starts and runs slowly for a short time and then will start running Normally. This happens mostly in Heatpump Mode in winter time. Do you think it is the Cap. Dual 70/7.5 ro Fan Motor! Thanks for any Help! Oscar

Check both, The capacitor, and the fan motor. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks, you actually have to TEST BOTH before you know what the problem really is. Let me ask are you getting any blinking lights from your control board? Give me your make and model and we can find out where they are, and if they are sending you a code as to what malfunction is causing your problem.

I like these videos, as it's a simple thing to check your capacitor with an ohm meter, and go from there.

Notice on both how simple it is to check the capacitor, but the second video, he checks the blower motor as well (easy since it failed to turn by hand), and ends up changing the motor. Most are not so cut and dried and for sure should be tested. This is purely for instruction,

I recommend a trained tech, I know costly, but he should guarantee his work, and you can easily see why they make the bucks, because they are trained with many classroom hours and hands on training and experience and that's a safe efficient combination.

Enjoy the videos and decide is this something you want to take on, and at the very least if you calla tech, you will have an idea of what he is doing, and talking about. Please let me know what you think and how things worked out.
