We have a Kohler 1.6 gallon toilet. The bowl is badly stained and we want to replace it. It occurred to me that we could save some money by keeping the tank and replacing the bowl. Will any Kohler bowl fit the tank? Three bolts to attach.

Hi John

If Tom was here he would tell you stories about his younger days sitting in back alleys using a pumice stone and muriatic acid to clean stained toilet bowls... he'd also tell you about the scar tissue that developed on his lungs and caused him problems breathing for the rest of his life! Ouch!

Anyway, not all Kohler toilet bowls are interchangeable. Look inside your toilet tank... see if there is a model number embossed into the tank or stamped onto the tank. If there is a model number, call Kohler and ask them what bowl they can recommend to match your tank, if any. My GUESS is that you have a Kohler wellworth toilet and if that turns out to be the case you can find a bowl at almost any plumbing supply wholesaler. If you'd like to post a picture of the tank and bowl one of us on the page may be able to identify it, as well. However, note that your best bet is to match up the model number from the tank and call Kohler... hate to see you buy the wrong bowl and go to tons of trouble for nothing!

Have a good day.

Mark

488394884048841Little difficult to read the number. Maybe 4620, or 4020? See what you think.

Contacted Kohler. According their helpful chatline, they do not recommend any current Kohler bowls to go with a 4620 tank, assuming that the number is actually 4620.

I don't think there is a 4020 tank, at least not that I can reference on the web, so 4620 would seem to be right.

I read K 4620.

With these bowl matches

k4620 toilet bowl | Search Results | KOHLER (http://www.us.kohler.com/us/s?Ntt=k4620+toilet+bowl)

Looks like you may replace tank and bowl because none of the ones I looked at have a 3 bolt attachment.

Yeah, I think you are right. Even if they would, I can just buy a new toilet for what they want for a bowl. Another promising idea bites the dust.

I did find this cross reference site though

https://www.plumbingsupply.com/kohlertoiletparts-highline.html#k3427

Indicates a highline may work. Models # K-3427 & K-11450*

***they seem to have been discontinues******

From my experience - it is LOT cheaper to go to HD and pick up a brand new Kohler Wellworth Lite, ULF toilet. Comes with seat, bolts, and wax ring - all for $119.00. Just purchased one yesterday

Or go with Glacier Bay toilet for $89.00

The other choice would be to try to match the bowl to the tank - but that is something I would never attempt to do, again. Learned that lesson many times before

Hope that helps
