My cat is pregnant, and I'm sure she is near her "due date"I heard that you should keep her inside for multipul reasons like the tom might attack the mum, and also its not the best to have kittens outside.I try to keep her indoors but my family say if she wants out she wants out, I know it's a smal bit cruel keping her inside but I say she should be kept indoors. Can anyone help me out with this problem?

You should keep her inside if you suspect she is soon to have the kittens. Make a large box with some towels and keep food, water nearby. If you have a comfortable room where she can stay alone, that would be best. If she gives birth outside, the kittens may die of exposure - and there is danger with other animals around. Keeping her inside will protect the mother cat and kittens.

I agree with Illusion. Make what is sometimes called a "birthing box" as Illusion has suggested. And, everything else that she has suggested.

I have had cats all of my life. I, and many others, consider them to be an indoor pet. If I were you, I wouldn't consider it cruel to keep your cat inside all of the time.

The risk of your cat contracting feline aids and bringing fleas in your home are just a couple of reasons to keep your cat indoors.

If you spay or neuter a cat, they are much less likely to want to go outdoors. Plus, having them spayed or neutered is being kind to them so that they don't have to suffer by wanting something that is natural to them. And, that would be to go outside and find other cats with which to breed.

I would personally keep her indoors! She may get into a scrap with another cat and harm the kittens... and/or she may have the kittens outside and usually a mother cat will want to keep the kittens where she had them:)
