I want to clean the gas oven cast iron grates. What are some options I could use?

Wire wool and elbow grease.

I lay the grates on newspaper and use non fume oven cleaner on both sides and the use a steel bristle brush from Home Depot to scrub them after a few hours, and finish it up with SOS steel wool pads and hot water.

A spray on degreaser works pretty good too.

Any of the above, but I soak everything in soapy water for an hour or three first. It helps.
