Hi all, I have 2 kohler toilets: memoirs and San Raphael models that constantly clog up. They're both about 10 years old and in good condition. Is there anything I can do to give a more powerful flush? Is there an adapter kit of some kind or am I out of luck? From what I can tell the toilets are functioning OK but just weak when it comes to flushing solid waste.

Lift the lid and make sure the water level inside the tank is about 1/4" below the overflow tube. If not, adjust fill valve. That will assure you have full 1.6 gal of water available for flush. Also, see if water has spinning action inside the bowl during the flush. If not, your may have clogged holes under the rim of the toilet. Here, take coat hanger and poke it through each hole under the rim. You can also install regular flopper to give you more water during the flush - but here you will eliminate the water saving feature of the toilet. Other that that - and since this is happening in two different toilets - it may also be "user's habit problem". With low flush toilets, you have to make sure you don't use too much paper, especially double layer one.

Lastly, the simplest solution is to hold handle down for few seconds during the flush, to make sure entire tank empties, not only the 1.6 gal

Less cheap option is replace them with newly manufactured ones. Newer ones will likely have the design issues sorted out better that plagued the early low flush units. Fact is some work better than others. They aren't all equal.

Assuming you don't have drain pipe issues due to partial collapse, clogs due to congealed grease or tree root infiltration into the lines.

@Diyer2009: You now have Low Flush toilet. That toilet uses flopper that has stays up for only short period, allowing only about 1.6 gal of water per flush ( 1/2 tank per flush ). If you either adjust the original one ( if it can be adjusted ) or buy new, regular flush flopper, then flopper will stay up longer, allowing all water from tank to empty. That way you will get 3.5 gal of water going down to the bowl.
