The US navy is a little slow to follow its chief's commands or whims. The carrier group supposedly menacing North Korea has spent its recent days playing war games with Australia and won't arrive in North Korean waters until the end of the month, so is there a blockage in communications in Washington? So we have had Kim and minions going off their collective nuts about a threat that doesn't exist, now what would have happened if this non event was enough to push Kim over the edge? Would Dump have just said it was all a mistake? We waited expecting the US to actually follow through on the rhetoric and what we found was a paper tiger growling in the underbrush

Xi was having dessert when herr Donald launched 50 + tomahawks at a Syrian airport . Then he watched Trump drop an 11 ton bomb on an Afghan cave .Then we spread the word that the Stennis group ;with more firepower than all deployed during WWII was headed the NORKS way . Xi concluded that herr Donald was bat guano crazy .He probably told his own loon ; un Kim to back off for a while . Mission accomplished .

The video of the NORK missile test has been released .

If anyone can lose a carrier group, it's Trump. He's gonna kill us all.. You know it too.

Before he kills us, EX, he is going to kill someone else, now who could that be I wonder? Has Dump signed on to the no assassination of foreign leaders policy? Or has he a different approach? Dump has bruised his ego on Kim, he has exposed his anger with Assad, he is very disappointed with Vlad, in fact, I wondering does he have respect for any leader he has met? perhaps Xi

Maybe Xi has some new found respect for herr Donald . He hasn't met un Kim and probably never will. He has met Shinzo Abe and evidently there is plenty of mutual respect there .

New found respect, you mean he might think of him less of a clown and a loud mouth? If Donald were a statesman he would arrange to meet Kim and Vlad, but this isn't his style, they must come grovelling to him and that isn't going to happen, he threw out an olive branch to Vlad but then the wind blew

F Vlad

Now Tom, that wasn't nice, and is really uncalled for. Vlad is a realist, he does the possible and doesn't make grandeous speeches. Since he intervened in Syria there has been progress, not the progress the americans wanted, but perhaps the progress the Syrians wanted, and after all, it is their turf.

Dump has inherited BO's war, there was a glimmer of light that he may have a different point of view but that was quickly snuffed out, now Dump should get down to eliminating Daesh, it doesn't do his agenda for regime change any good, but reality says you really don't want Baghdadi ruling from Damascus and if Racca falls he has to do something

Shouldn't be too much of a fight, repubs hold both houses, unless you expect the freedom caucus to strike again?

Trump has to sign whatever they do, and he will want his agenda out of this too, so do as I suggest and stock up on the popcorn for this circus.

depends on whether the obstructionist do nothing Dems play along. I expect that herr Donald will throw them a bone or two since his sympathies lies with them anyway. If not ,a government shut down is not the end of the world .

The last shutdown costs taxpayers billions. Not the end of the world but expensive, and aggravating.

The Costs of the Government Shutdown - ABC News (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/10/the-costs-of-the-government-shutdown/)

There was a 3 percent increase in restaurant beverage (primarily liquor) sales during the first week of October 2013 compared to the first week of September of this year.

They probably will have some kind of Continuing Resolution until the fall. Stocked up on the popcorn yet Tom?

"Obstructionist do nothing dems". Wow, that's rich! Kettle, meet pot. The Republicans spent 8 years putting party ahead of country. Every one of them should be metaphorically shot at dawn!!

Tal ,so when the Dems shut down the government over a wall ,will you be shouting "All kinds of people are getting cheated out of salaries, benefits, and services !!!!"

What? You think Trump or repubs would be dumb enough to put building his wall in a bill to keep the government running?

tomder55

maybe...also defense spending ,more money for immigration enforcement ,possibly Planned Parenthood funding can all be on the table . herr Donald doesn't want to wait for October to start his projects .

First, he needs to make a plan....That's what great businesspeople do.

He waited for years to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, and he's still waiting.

He has a plan but nobody but him understands it.He said, he knows more than anybody.

Look you guys staple all sorts of things to the bills you pass, it seems it is the only way to get something unpopular started

talaniman
Apr 22, 2017, 05:13 PM
Those are bills that die an anonymous death without enough support. Even the repubs in the gulf states aren't keen on a wall at this point.

paraclete

So you think a wall isn't as good as a fence, Dump made a mistake, he shouldn't have called it a wall, just a big frontier security fence. When he said wall everyone visualised the Great Wall of China or the wall in Palestine but a twenty foot security fence you could see through would do just the same job, built on deep foundations of course

On which side of the Rio Grande? If it's on the US side, we give up the river to Mexico. We will prevent animal migration, family visits between the US and Mexico, will limit/end agricultural and business dealings and irrigation, will present legal and logistical challenges. And no matter how tall the wall, someone will bring a taller ladder.

And no matter how tall the wall, someone will bring a taller ladder.

So build it up the middle of the river, just because it is there doesn't mean you loose the river. There is a point where climbing walls or fences becomes very difficult, that is why they are built but putting it in the river makes it more difficult to tunnel. Family visits happen through border crossings with appropriate id checks, etc, irrigation just involves a pipe, and business can be conducted by phone internet or crossing at border crossings. The idea isn't to stop trade or normal legal relationships but to stop illegal traffic.

What I see here is an unwillingness to solve problems or to think laterally

His wall won't be built . I saw a 50 acre housing project shot dead because of the presence of spotted newts .I saw a gas fired electric plant shot down over the presence of timber rattlers . 3,000 miles of wall will find 30,000 environmental ,and other issues that will prevent it's completion. Besides ,just the threat of actual enforcement of the law is doing the desired effect .

You mean he spends more time in Florida than the White House? Obama was hardly an emperor as repubs opposed everything, and did shut the government down, but we shall see how successful Trump is in moving the right wing agenda along as his majority wants.

What you're surprised that Herr Donald has opposition to his plans? Who knew it wouldn't be as easy as he said it would? He will have to do more than just run his mouth and round up Mexicans. You know the dems are going to try and make him a one term president, and take his majority from him next year.

Come on Tom, you have seen this before, and really, nothing has changed but the names.

You don't really believe that stuff, that was then, when men were men, not wimps.. There is a simple solution, conquer Mexico again then you can build a shorter wall on your new border, think of all the lovely taxes you will collect and all that cheap unorganised labour
