I started working on a h1b visa in nov of 2007, I was doing opt for 2 years prior to that up to oct of 2007 , I filed tax return last year
Now I need to no which form to use to file
Also my wife is here and my kid also , they have no social security or tax number
Can I put them on as dependents?
Can I deduct donations I made to goodwill?
Thanks in advance
Ps. I'm from jamaica and have been here for 4 years

You can file jointly with your wife and both choose to be treated as resident aliens. This will allow you to claim you child and will make $19,900 of your income exempt from taxes, PLUS make you eligible for the Child Tax Credit.

You will need to complete Form W-7 to apply for ITINs for your wife and child, then submit them with your tax return.
