A good B-complex vitamin
Although it is not a cure for stress, it helps.

Valerian root is supposed to help reduce stress also, I have never tried it though

Increased B-complex is essential. Valerian is a very good sleep aid but can inhibit calcium absorption with extended use, so do be careful of that. A cup of chamomile tea is another good and simple support. Take care.

Also, it is important to know if she is currently on any medications. Many vitamins and herbs can interact with certain medications and can cause some serious side effects under certain conditions.

Try a good B50 complex vitamin and then take an extra B6 vitamin of 50 mg. The B6 is directly for stress, but all the B vitamins are synergistic... they all need each other and should not be taken separately.

Being a holistic practitioner, I use a lot of herbals.

The top three herbs would be:
- St. Johns Wort (should not be taken with antidepressants)
- Kava Kava (should not be taken with antidepressants)
- Valerian Root is great too, but make sure you take it either when your extremely stressed or about to go to bed, because it is also a powerful sleep aid as well.

Vitamins that help with stress, as others have said, all the B vitamins are very good at allowing the body to be able to cope better with stress.

Finally, I would also add, that it would help if you could cut down on caffeine and smoking. (If you use either) because these only add to your stress level.

Lastly - if all of the above fails, try meditation, guided imagery relaxation techniques got me through numerous times of stress during nursing school.

As a LAST resort, see your doctor, because stress is a killer, and your body can only handle so much.

Be good to yourself. Recognize your needs and fulfill those needs.

I run a small health food store and "Chill Pill" has had a lot of success. It has B-vitamins as well as a bunch of herbs like Valerian and Chamomille.
