I just wanted to know if The Last Emperor (1987) is supposed to have English subtitles for the foreign speaking parts as the version I saw didn't have any. Thanks in advance.

It will depend on which version you saw. When I viewed it in China, it was all in Chinese. I saw another version where there was Chinese subtitles for all the English speaking parts.

Most of the ones you see at the movie theaters will be properly subtitled for the area it is playing.

Many of the bootlegged ones may or may not.
