It's likely that the flapper in the bottom of the tank is leaking. If it's not creating a water-tight seal water will slowly leak from the tank into the bowl, and after a while the water level in the tank drops to a point where the valve opens and it refills. It's not unusual to have to replace the flapper after 13 years. The good news is that it's easy to replace.

Close water to the toilet, remove rubber flopper, take it with you to local home improvement store, buy exactly the same flopper, and install it.
Taking old flopper to the store with you assures you buy the right flopper
Hope that help

Be sure to take the old one, some AS units are flapper specific. Some use a standard flapper, some use a swivel unit that fills with water and a round flapper.

I recently had this issue and changed the flapper myself. I am handy, but not when it comes to plumbing, so that should tell you how easy this is to do.
As has already been suggested, take the old flapper with you to ensure you get the correct replacement one. They're not expensive, and it's really very easy to replace.
