So I just started college and my best friend and I went into the same program. We've made friends with these two girls in our class. The four of us hang out a lot and study together. But there's so many times I show up to school the next day and find out the three of them hung out the night before. It happens a lot. I never get invited. I've never tried to hang out with them alone but my best friend does it a lot. It's really annoying how I never get to be included in this. If I was wanting to hang out with them, I'd always invited her but I guess she doesn't think of me. I don't really know how to bring it up with her that it's bothering me, but it really is.

You get used to it.. and find new friends... people grow apart tastes and interests change, particularly at your age. Nobody is OBLIGATED to include anyone else. Take this as a hint to find some new friends to hang out with. Trust me they didn't "forget" to call you.

Annoying? That's covering up hurt. That's why you can't bring it up. Acknowledge that you are hurt and gently, without recriminations or accusations, GENTLY ask why. Just why, in one short sentence. Regardless of her response, then let it go. This is what college is like - growing apart, becoming different people. Years later you will reconnect, as I have at age 70.

(And think back to high school less than a year ago, when you complained about your friends who wanted to hang out with you.)

Just tell her you are wondering why and then forget it. There will be times, as you make friends you will do things with them and not include her. That's the way it is. Make some new friends.
