Does any one know any tips for using SV gaskets I fought one for over 2 hours today

Sure it's the right size? Soap the gasket? What is the issue?

I am assuming you are talking about SV gaskets used in assembly of sewer and storm drain pipes...
If so, there are two things you should do:
1. If plastic pipe, take a grinder or belt sander and bevel edge of the end of the pipe, all the way around
2. Use lubricant. Lube gasket and the beveled end of the pipe immediately prior to the assembly
Depending on size and length of the pipe, it may be a "two men job". One worker at each end. One guides the pipe in at the connection, the other uses large HD pry bar or shovel to push the pipe in from the far end.
