We currently have a 2 1/2 ton seer 10 Goodman package unit heat pump which I want to upgrade to either a Goodman or Rheem package unit. It is located right outside our bedroom window and the noise bothers my wife. I was wondering is there any appreciable difference in the sound level of these two?

Just have the company doing the work install a sound blanket on the compressor. That will quiet it down.
